The Celestial Collection

A collaboration with Wildsmith Skin

In June 2022 I was contacted by Wildsmith Skin who were seeking astronomy images for a new range of cosmetics. This would become The Celestial Collection. Wildsmith Skin are based in Hampshire at Heckfield Place and make products that focus on natural ingredients and sustainability. I firstly directed them to my website galleries to see if anything took their fancy. A few weeks later they came back having selected a couple of images and seeking permission to use them for their new gift set packaging. Of course I said yes! What a wonderful opportunity and to have my images displayed in such an unexpected way.

Over the next few month we spoke further and they sought out information about where the images were taken, what they depict and my process. Their ethos is ‘made by many’ and they liked the fact that I was an amateur imager, doing this primarily for my own pleasure in a DIY way. Being able to share it with them and their customers is a real treat.

Fast forward to October and I received a parcel through the post containing one of each gift set. The images adorn the outer packaging with my name on the reverse, and the inner container which holds the cosmetics is made of fully biocompostable mycelium.
